1/10 VE ” And in my winter mind the muffling snow…”

This is the first print in a variable edition (series) of 10.  Each print in this series is unique.  The prints focus on a collagraphed image of the artist's face so in some sense they are self portraits, or perhaps more accurately portraits of various emotional states of the artist.  The Variable Edition series is based on a couple of prints that were in a show in Holguin, Cuba and are now owned by the Holguin artists collective.  The prints I put into the show reflected on the sadness and fears associated with aging, especially getting old in western society.  In the variable edition the prints, through the use of a variety of techniques, progress through a series of emotions expressed by the same face.  This could be viewed as a day in the life or as important points in an entire life.

This first print is blacks and greys - basically without colour - as the artist faces the possibilities inherent in the day/life.
