Monotype / Monoprint “Barriered”

This is a monotype or monoprint meaning it is the only one like this - hence a unique piece of art.  The base technique used is similar to that used on a painting except that ink is used as the medium rather than paint and the piece is moved through a hand pulled printing press to create the final product.  This is intended to be a rather ghostly image of a face, not really seen and definitely not heard with the voice locked behind barriers, veils, fences, social and cultural requirements.  It references all those women whose voices are silenced by those  who need women submissive and docile in order to feel in control.
