The Transforming Breath 5/6 VE

This print uses the woodcut, collagraph and embossing techniques to produce a unique piece of art. The fifth print of a variable edition of six, it is printed vertically with the embossed image below the shamanistic face breathing into an alliance with a feathered being.  The marks of hand-pulled printing are used to express the strength (red feathers) of the connection between the human and the natural world, a connection that is considered vital for understanding and the knowledge necessary for a successful life.

This print seeks to draw attention to the yogic emphasis on breath and the power of breathing to influence and develop understanding of how the human mind operates as well as to the connection to the land and its inhabitants so valued by the aboriginal cultures and lost to our urban civilization.
