This is a monotype woodcut of a woman transforming. It is called a monotype because it is the only print made using brown ink. The woodcut is based on a photo I took in Kassala, Sudan on the border of Eritrea. She was making coffee over a charcoal brazier. She was a lovely, gentle person and it was fantastic coffee! She reminded me of the spiral horned antelopes of sub-Saharan Africa - shy, wary but open to possibilities.
